On October 6th, 2026, the Mount Prospect Village Board voted unanimously to adopt MP2040, the Village’s new Comprehensive Plan. The vote is the final step in a planning process that began with residents, businesses, and community partners, and it sets the direction for Mount Prospect through 2040.
MP2040 is a guide for how the Village grows, invests, and maintains what makes Mount Prospect a good place to live and work. It covers land use, housing, transportation, economic development, parks and open space, and many other topics. The plan includes an implementation matrix of 154 actions that Village staff, boards, and partners will work through over the coming years.
The plan was shaped by dozens of public meetings and input from stakeholders across the Village. The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on August 27th and voted unanimously to recommend approval to the Village Board.
